Cabinet minister Gopinath Munde cremated in the presence of thousands of supporters
Union rural minister Gopinath Munde, who died after a road accident in Delhi yesterday, has been cremated with full state honors at his native village in Mahrashtra's Beed district this afternoon. His body was brought to Latur, 485 kilometers from Mumbai. From there it was taken to the place of cremation.

Thousands of supporters had gathered to pay their last respect to late Munde. The funeral pyre of Munde was lit by his elder daughter Pankaja Munde-Palve who is also an MLA from Parli.

Union ministers Smriti Irani, Dr. Harshvardhan, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Goa chief minister Manohar Parikkar and several other political leaders were present at Parli village to attend Munde's funeral.

A chaotic situation also surfaced when Police and Munde's supporters clashed. The late Union Ministers daughter appealed to the supporters to stay calm.

Munde, 64, who made his entry into the Union Cabinet for the first time last week, was on his way to the airport when his Maruti Suzuki SX4 car was hit by a Tata Indica car at Prithviraj Road-Tughlak Road intersection in the heart of the capital.
