Call on 011-27357169 to know about how to catch corrupts in Delhi
Delhi Government led by Arvind Kejriwal while fulfilling its another poll promise has launched a dedicated helpline number 011-27357169 where people can call and they will be guided on how to do a sting operation (audio or visual) against the corrupt officials. The identity of the complainant will be kept anonymous.

Complainants will have to reach this number again after getting this first evidence against the corrupts.

Arvind Kejriwal, while launching the helpline number in a jam packed press conference made it clear that on this number complaints can not be registered in first go. He said that with in 24 hours of the first evidence provided by the complainant the anti-corruption officials will get active and nab the corrupt red handed.

Kejriwal said, “Every citizen will be anti-corruption inspector. We will ask people to record anyone who asks for a bribe. With due evidence anyone who is corrupt will be charged.”

The anti-corruption helpline number 011-27357169, will be operational from 8 am to 10 pm daily. The Delhi government will launch a simpler four-digit number in the next few days. The uniqueness of this helpline number is that it will advise and guide people about how to do sting operations against corrupts.

With the creation of the anti-corruption helpline number, AAP government has fulfilled its third promise made to the Delhiites. With this new helpline number, every citizen in Delhi has now got the power to expose the corrupt and the weapon in this fight will be their mobile phone. The purpose of creating this number is to create fear in the mind of corrupts.

This anti-corruption helpline number will be assisted by a team of state vigilance department. Delhi police will also play an active role in assisting the vigilance department. To promote this helpline number the Delhi government will advertise it through newspapers and FM radios.

Notwithstanding the buzz surrounding its launch, AAP's anti-corruption helpline is not only doomed to fail to tackle graft but will also create an unhealthy atmosphere in the national capital. To begin with, a helpline can hardly be expected to eradicate deep-rooted corruption that has seeped into every institution of governance. If the solution truly lay in simply setting up a call centre, corruption would have been a thing of the past a long time ago. The truth is there is no quick fix to corruption, as AAP seems to suggest. But what is truly worrisome is the way the helpline has been set up. Reportedly, the purpose of this helpline is to help complainants nail corrupt government officials seeking bribes for a particular service. This it seeks to achieve by directing complainants to conduct sting operations against allegedly corrupt public servants. In fact, AAP's Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has extolled each and every resident of the capital to become a sting operator in the fight against corruption. Even setting aside that this amounts to the state government abdicating its own responsibility in catching corrupt officials, it's also downright dangerous. This will convert Delhi into a Nazi state where any person armed with a rudimentary smartphone can become an agent of intimidation. In fact, just as in the pro-Soviet Warsaw Pact countries during Cold War, the helpline scheme incentivises people to spy on each other. Neighbours with grudges will now have an additional interest in entrapping each other. It doesn't matter if the evidence collected through these so-called sting operations is credible. The point is the helpline scheme provides a veritable tool for harassment. And thanks to this, public servants will refuse to take any decisions, further delaying delivery of services. Taken together, the anti-corruption helpline needs to be scrapped forthwith. Go for big fish, arrest top corrupt leader, conduct raids. Helpline does not help
