INDIA HAS got so used to corruption that an Indian lifestyle minus corruption is unthinkable. Our politicians sit in judgment in Parliament and take an unholy delight in squandering the taxpayers in not allowing Parliament to function or to carry out any meaningful business when the House is in session.

Adjournment is the name of the game they love to lay, an art they have mastered, and it is they who decide upon what is right and what is not for the Nation.

The Lokpal Bill is something no political party is keen to pursue – the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh did give an assurance of sorts to Anna Hazare but, developing events have pushed the Bill far back in the list of priorities of the Government.

Black money hidden away in foreign banks is one of the points in the agenda of both Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev. From the officially declared assets of our MPs, one has learnt that most of them are rolling in money, irrespective of the party they belong to.

Those who are linked directly to the ruling party keep making money and more money. That gives rise to scams which keep getting murkier and murkier. And – in this age of coalition politics, the allies of the ruling party are not far behind – they also exploit the situation through arm twisting techniques.
