The first name that come to mind when one watches the cockroaches scene in Raaz 3 is Alfred Hitchcock's popular film Birds. No one knew that crows could be that scary as was projected by the master creator and who can forget the scene where Tippi Hedren is trying desperately to keep all the crows outside with all her might holding on the door.
Case 39, a horror movie about a small girl also has a similar scene. Bradley Cooper is the man who was traumatized when bees start coming out of his eyes, nose and mouth. That he died in the scene is no surprise with millions of bees buzzing out of his body and filling his washroom.
Although not quite like the last two films but Ek Hasina Thi, a Saif Ali starer film saw him in a negative role. It has a chill down the spine last scene. When Urmila finally is able to capture Saif and hold him prisoner in a cave that is infested by rats. The film ends there but the rats nibbling at the feet of a bloody Saif Ali Khan clearly indicates that how it would have ended.
Thus these films with these scene all played a minor but a significant part to cast a mood on the audience and Raaz 3 aims to do the same. As the film is not doing that great on the critics front, thus to release such a promo was certainly a marketing strategy but at least it showed that the Bhatts tried to put in some horror and thrills in the movie apart from Bipasha Basu who is seen with barely there clothes and clutching Emraan Hashmi.
