Can money buy happiness?
The controversy whether it makes you happy or not would continue. The essence is that the two extremes- too much money and too little money- are not good for happiness. There must be an optimal mix of the two extremes
WHETHER MONEY can buy happiness is a never-ending debate. According to me, one should have only that kind of money which is earned with honesty.

And money should be used only as a means o fulfill your basic necessities and not a way to attain luxuries. Once you get used to a luxurious lifestyle, then it is not easy to come back to the normal one.

The general belief is that more the money, better the life; but it is not so. The biggest constraint in life is time. Even if you get all the wealth of the world, you have just one lifetime to spend it.

Hence, people who think that only money makes us happy are seriously wrong. What the two researchers of Warwick University have done is quantify the correlation between money coming somebody’s way and the happiness that is generated as a consequence. This study has shown that in Britain, it takes a windfall of a minimum 1 million pounds to make a person happy.

Just in case one jumps to the conclusion that money alone can buy you happiness, the researchers have added that good health and a loving relationship also are two other prerequisites, that losing a job or a divorce can be disheartening. This kind of profound reasoning has now finally put to rest the belief of some that money is the source of all evil. This misguided belief quite obviously derives from that other psychological state: envy at the happiness of others. Why don’t the smart psychologists from Warwick now focus their next research project on something else- like finding a link between stupidity and wasting time on silly research?

Anyway, money is ultimately an extra- ordinary resource. The controversy whether it makes you happy or not, would continue. The essence is that the two extremes- too much money and too little money- are not good for happiness. There must be an optimal mix of the two extremes.
