Can the Nitish card bail out JD(U) in UP and Uttarakhand polls?
Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is the rising star on the firmament of Indian politics. There are several positive aspects of his political leadership, which makes him a top contender for the position of the country's Prime Minister.
THE CHARISMA of Janta Dal (United) leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is no more limited to the geo-political boundaries of Bihar but his fan-following is rising at a rapid pace at the national and international level among all Indians, who have started believing that he could be the best person for the post of Prime Minister in the future. Not only his followers, but the JD (U) leader himself is tech savvy and leaving no stone unturned to see that his government makes new history in the field of e-governance. Bihar is moving fast on the path of development and prosperity under the able and dynamic leadership of Nitish Kumar. Besides being an able administrator, Nitish is also known for his politically correct statements and his acumen in the sphere of Indian politics place him in an entirely different category. He is secular, hard working, honest, devoted, dedicated to the development of Bihar, and above all a very polite and soft spoken person which make him a good leader. He is not a ‘headline-hungry’ leader and avoids cheap publicity stunts in order to get media attention like many other leaders, who keep on doing such things for getting their names published in the columns of different newspapers. Nitish Kumar is very selective when it comes to comment on any subject. He chooses his topic for comment carefully and shares his opinion only on issues that are of concern to the general public. While making a brief comment on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's interaction with the TV editors of news channels, Nitish Kumar said coalition dharma did not mean to shield corruption. Prime Minister must come out clean on the issue. Nitish Kumar is also keeping his eyes on the railway budget, which will be tabled soon in the parliament, and has urged Union Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee to allocate funds to his state so that all the ongoing and pending railway projects in Bihar can be taken up on a war-footing. He also expressed his concern over the inordinate delay happening on the transfer of land to the state government by the Indian Railways after the line between Digha and Patna was closed. People in the state and all his followers have also welcomed the step of Bihar chief minister asking all the serving bureaucrats to reveal their assets in public in a stipulated time frame. This would put some sort of curb on corruption. Nitish followers have backed this move as they felt a public servant''s assets must also be scrutinized like politicians. Nitish is going strong and this would surely benefit Janta Dal (United) as a party not only in Bihar but in other states too, where the party is likely to contest assembly elections in 2012. The party has a face and a leader with mass following, and now it is upto the party workers and office bearers present in other states, how they will win seats in the elections by projecting the achievements and good governance of Nitish Kumar in Bihar.
