Can Uddhav Thackeray become Maharashtra CM only by attacking Narendra Modi!

It seems Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has been over rattled and flustered from inside after the crumble of Sena - Saffron alliance! May be with the split his own ambitious aspiration for becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra has also been tattered into pieces.

As we know that the 25-year-old alliance between the BJP and Shiv Sena ended last month after intense parleys not only over "sharing of seats" but also the main contentious issue was "Chief Minister's post" which Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray was obstinate to keep with him for the Maharashtra Assembly elections to be held next week.

However ever since the election campaign started I have observed that the Sena Chief has nothing to say to people other than doing anti-Modi rant!

In fact on Shiv Sena's front it is Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray who is focusing on the issue of what kind of Mumbai he wants, and its development and nightlife. But, his father and Sena chief, Uddhav spends 90 per cent of his speeches on BJP-bashing.

Recently while addressing a rally in Tulzapur in Maharashtra the Shiv Sena chief made a controversial statement by comparing Team Modi and BJP campaign in Maharashtra to Afzal Khan's army - a Bijapur general who had attacked the state trying to conquer it during the rule of Chattrapati Shivaji in 17th Century.

Even he also took on Modi on his statement that he would not target his former allies out of respect for the late Bal Thackeray by asking "Where was this respect when the alliance ended over seat-sharing?" in an editorial of Shiv Sena's mouthpiece, Saamna.

In fact one will get nothing from him even from his cross channel appearances where he only questions BJP. What it shows other than his frustration, insecurities due to aggressive campaigns by Modi and the annoyances of a lost battle?

Can anybody convince people by bashing somebody? Common sense says one should fight the election on the loop wholes of previous government. But Thackeray chief is not only completely silent on NCP and Congress but also failing to touch the issues of Maharashtra and its people. That means either he seems to be totally direction less and lost the battle before it even started!

Let me say this time that a sensible section of voters are really confused amidst the allegations, clarifications and counter allegations that have only raised a cacophony of electioneering and not the level of debate for the future of the state.

The decision to fight assembly polls independently by all the parties like BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP, Congress or MNS was thought to be an opportunity for voters to choose and pick the right candidates but it is appalling to see that it has only become a disaster by leaving no room for quality debate for betterment of the state.

In such a scenario the negative campaigning by Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, who claims his party as a great stake holder of "Maratha Asmita" has only revealed his low confidence and inaptness to hold the corner office on sixth floor of Mantralaya, the state secretariat which offers magnificent view of the Arabian Sea"

Prakash Akolkar, political editor of Marathi daily Sakal said, "Thackeray did not come across as a confident and self-assured person, who he normally is. Thackeray announced that, he will contest assembly election if Sena comes to power. Had he been so confident of Sena coming to power, he would have already filed nomination papers."

I completely agree with it. A directionless and whacking kind of campaign has never own people's faith. At least the recent surveys have given a glimpse of it that becoming the CM of Maharashtra is just an impossible dream for Uddhav Thackeray for sure!
