Mr. Nayar, also said that, “We prepared a list of almost 200 anti-cancer drugs, but we could get the subsidized rates for only 72 anti-cancer drugs. For the rest of the drugs, we are going to follow the TMC model, they will provide the remaining drugs from the same source & rate as for TMC's patients. Director TMC, Mumbai, an institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, GOI has assured chief minister of their support in this regard.”
The anti-cancer drugs will be available in Punjab at 30-50 percent subsidized rates. For example Drug named Geftinib with print price of Rs. 3303 would be available at Rs. 346.50, while another drug Filgrastm can be availed at a cost of Rs. 198 against a print price of Rs. 2,300 similarly another medicine named Docetaxil at Rs. 898 against a price of Rs. 13.440 and so on, reported Hindustan times.
Punjab health minister Madan Mohan Mittal said that, “The state government has also framed the Cancer Care and Drug De-addiction Treatment Bill, which would soon be adopted and implemented.” he also added that the health department is strengthening services for cancer treatment in medical colleges located at Patiala, Amritsar and Faridakot.
