Captain, two jawans killed in Kashmir landslide
Acting on a tip-off that a group of militants might try to sneak into the Valley, the troops of Sikh Light Infantry had laid an ambush at Tikri village near the LoC. As the troops lay in wait for the ultras, a landslide struck the area.
THREE ARMY personnel, including a captain, who had laid an ambush near the LoC were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Uri sector of Baramulla District. The deceased personnel have been identified as Captain Gaurav, Lance Naik Karnail Singh and Sepoy Karan Singh. More than 20 inches of snow has accumulated at Rai post in Tikri area.
Heavy rains have lashed the Kashmir Valley since last night and upper reaches of the mountains also received the first snowfall of the season. Met officials said that the temperature will continue to dip in the coming days making life more difficult for the civilians as well as the troops alike.
