West Bengal Child Welfare Minister was shocked to see sizeable cats roaming inside the wards of Malda hospital and quite surprising for her, there were no doctors or nurses around. Various infant deaths have been reported from the hospital for past 24 hours.
IN SPITE of deaths of infants in different government hospitals in West Bengal, the health ministry headed by the chief minister herself, is not worried and as visible through her efforts, Mamata Banerjee wants the issue to be thrown to dogs.

Apart from laying the blame squarely on parents and guardians, she has been regularly blaming it all on the earlier CPM-led left front government. She and her TMC view the CPM as a very convenient punching bag.
Sabitri Mitra is the child and welfare minister in the cabinet of Mamata Banerjee and she had a terrible firsthand experience, during a surprise visit to the Malda hospital.
She was surprised to see cats roaming freely in the wards. Some of these felines were sizeable enough to harm newborn babies. In the absence of other staff, she had to shoo them away. Moreover, there were no doctors or nurses in sight. She was able to finally locate only three nurses in a ward of 128 babies.
She was appalled at the pathetic condition that existed at the Malda hospital from where as many as 20 infant deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Wonder what sort of report she would submit to the chief minister and how would the CM react.
