Senior IAS officer Sri Lakshmi has finally been arrested by the CBI. Wife of an IPS officer, she is accused of irregular allocation of mining licenses.
SRI LAKSHMI, a senior IAS officer in the Andhra Pradesh state government and fourth accused in Obulapuram Mining Case (OMC) was arrested by the CBI on Monday evening at her office. She was taken to Nampalli CBI Court and produced before the session’s judge.
She held the post of Industries secretary during the government of Rajasekhara Reddy and she is accused to have granted mining licenses to Gali Janardhana Reddy without looking at other applications. She was questioned by CBI a couple of times earlier and finally was arrested on Sunday. The astonishing thing is that Sri Lakshmi is married to an IPS officer, GopiKrishna. Much more surprising is Sri Lakshmi was selected for IAS at the age of 22 years after completing her B.Sc. She is such a brilliant and knowledgeable woman and hails from a politically strong family of West Godavari district.
In the remand report the CBI told the court that Sri Lakshmi can change the evidence as her husband is a senior IPS officer and also she can flee to foreign countries. Moreover she is very close to Gali Janardhana Reddy and she has cheated the state government in allotting iron ore mines in illegal manner. Besides this the CBI has to get the names of political leaders and others who influenced the IAS officer to grant licenses to Gali Janardhan Reddy.
