CBI court convicts Lalu Prasad Yadav in fodder scam case, quantum of punishment on January 3
A special CBI court today held RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty along with 15 others in one of the six cases in the fodder scam.

Lalu was immediately taken into custody after the verdict was announced by CBI judge Shivpal Singh. The court will announce the quantum of punishment on January 3, 2018.

The court, however, acquitted six others, including former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra.

The fodder scam came to light in the 90s, where huge amount to the tune of Rs 89.74 lakh was siphoned off from government treasuries of Deoghar and other places between 1991-94. Of the six cases pertaining to the fodder scam, this is the second case in which the verdict has been pronounced.

The police had made ample arrangements outside the special CBI court in Ranchi, to check any disturbance in law and order by RJD supporters following the verdict.

On Thursday, Lalu had expressed hope that he too will be acquitted in the case like A Raja and Kanimozhi in the 2G scam.

Lalu had alleged foul play by BJP-led government and said that he along with his family members was being framed for the past 25 years, using CBI as an excuse.
