THE CENTRAL Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against seeking cancellation of the bail of former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah. Gujarat High Court had granted him bail yesterday in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, after three months of his arrest by CBI.
CBI filed petition against the bail of Amit Shah in the office of Deputy Registrar around 10:30 pm, yesterday night. CBI top officials decided to move the Supreme Court against the High Court decision. Senior lawyer KTS Tulsi accompanied the premier investigating agency officials when the petition was filed. Tulsi appeared in the High Court for CBI.
The Supreme Court will be on a brief Diwali recess from Monday, November 1.
Amit Shah was set free on a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh by the High Court and asked to report at the CBI's Mumbai office once every week for the first three weeks and then once in a month. He is BJP legislator from Sarkhej in Ahmedabad.
Earlier, CBI court had rejected the former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah bail plea. Amit Shah had alleged in his petition before the Gujarat High Court that the Central Bureau of Investigation had framed him and that there was no evidence to implicate him.
