The CBI has already arrested three people in connection with the case apart from conducting extensive searches in his farmhouse at Khadakwasla near Pune and a petrol pump which is owned by him in Pune.
SOON AFTER the CBI searched the residence of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, he is all set to appear for a round of interrogation into the alleged irregularities in the conduct and organisation of the Commonwealth Games 2010. Kalmadi, who is holidaying in Goa will appear before the CBI on or after January 3rd.
The raids were conducted simultaneously across his residences in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune last month after the investigating agency filed three first information reports (FIRs) for alleged offences of forgery of court records and public documents, criminal conspiracy and corruption and cheating in awarding some contracts for the CWG 2010.The CBI has already arrested three people in connection with the case apart from conducting extensive searches in his farmhouse at Khadakwasla near Pune and a petrol pump which is owned by him in Pune. The CBI also called one of Kalmadi's close associates Shekhar in New Delhi for a round of questioning. As the case progressed, Kalmadi followed the steps of tainted Telecom Minister A. Raja and said that he would be able to submit himself for interrogation next week.
The CBI is probing Kalmadi's role in the Queen's Baton Relay which was held in London in which the investigating agency has alleged that vehicles and video screens were hired at stratospheric rates and it also did not follow the tender process.
