Celebrate Mother's Day with sincerity and gratitude
Mother's Day is celebrated to honour all mothers and express gratitude for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child and their contribution to the humanity. Most countries including US, Australia, Canada and India celebrate it.
MOTHER’S DAY is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. This year it falls on May 8. According to Wikipedia, it is celebrated to honour all mothers and express gratitude for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child and their contribution to the humanity. Most countries including US, Australia, Canada and India celebrate it.

Generally, mother is a biological and/or social female parent of an offspring. And, a healthy connection between a mother and a child form a secure base, from which the child may later venture forth into the world, says Wkipedia.

It is held that Mother’s Day came into being due to the efforts made by Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. The Resolution for having a dedicated Mother’s Day was signed by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914.

Since then people across the world have been celebrating Mothers Day with joy and enthusiasm. Mothers are usually thanked and given gifts on this day.

Unfortunately, Mother’s Day celebration has become a commercial event to sell cards, flowers and gifts. The market forces and changed sensibilities of people have converted this day to be one of the most commercially-successful occasions after Christmas Day, New Year Day and Valentine Day.

According to the National Restaurant Association of US, Mother’s Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.

A business research informs that Americans will spend approximately $2.6 billion on flowers and $1.53 billion on pampering gifts on Mother’s Day.

According to some estimates, Mother’s Day generates about eight per cent of the US jewelry industry’s annual revenue.
