Celebrated writer Rowling growing up with 'The Casual Vacancy'?
J K Rowling's new book, 'The Casual Vacancy' has already broken the records by recording the highest pre-sales records for any book released this year. A marathon of people could be spotted queuing outsides stores to grab their share, as the book went on sale today.

THE CASUAL vacancy that overthrew the Da Vinci Code of Dan Brown as the book with the highest number of pre-sales order is under the microscope, as it is being launched today. J K Rowling, the beloved writer and creator of Hogwarts has been quite candid from the beginning about her latest book and the fact that it is not a fairytale but layered story of a girl who sees hard times in life.

Thus to complain about the fact that she wrote something as different as casual vacancy would be unfair but how far will the readers accept her 'dark comedy' (as the book is named) is a question that only time will tell. For now the fact that no one is giving out the story is a big USP for the book.

The manuscripts for the book have not been released to anyone but a few critics are appalled at some of the things mentioned in the book. Others have compared her to Charles Dickens and his style of portraying poverty as a character.

The fact that Rowling has seen hardships in life before getting immense popularity, fame and money with Harry Potter will be the reference point in this book and as a book lover, I can't wait to lay my hands on the casual vacancy. Sudipta Sengupta, an avid lover of Harry Potter series said, “If she has continued in the same genre of children's books, then she would never have been able to match Harry Potter and her works would eventually have been compared to Potter. She needs to grow and with this book, she is definitely making a progress.”
