TODAY IN all probability male dominated Indian politics will create history as after years of political drama-government’s proposed Women’s Bill would see the light of the day.

Given the number game this time government is likely win the race, besides, the proposed women’s bill has also received support from opposition benches. Barring Mulayam Singh Yadav led Samajwadi Party and Lallu Prasad Yadav led Rashtriya Janta Dal all other political parties have offered their support to the landmark constitutional development.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati and another Bihar spent force Sharad Yadav too have expressed their opposition to  the bill. These leaders are singing their customary tunes; they want reservation for SC, ST and Muslims women within the quota.    

Mulayam Singh Yadav reacting on the issue said, it is a conspiracy from ruling Congress to resist women from weaker sections of the society SCs, STc, OBSc minorities from entering parliament.     

The proposed Women Bill would be tabled in the upper house of the parliament Rajyasabha today, it provides reservation of one-third of seats to women in parliament and state assemblies. As per Indian constitution a constitutional amendment requires two-thirds majority in its support to become a law.

Lets hope this time history would be made in parliament, and on women’s day it would be a fitting gift to women community of the country. Such a move would facilitate in empowering women in society. They would no more be subjected to domestic violence, harassment, rape and considered as burden.
