Cell phones with 'virtually enhanced world' features
It is being held that soon there would be cell phones in the market that will provide access to a virtually enhanced world by using information gathered from the Internet to inform about everything.

MANY COMPANIES are currently working on developing the software to overlay images on the cell phone's camera view.

It is being held that soon there would be cell phones in the market that will be cell phones that will provide access to a virtually enhanced world by using information gathered from the Internet to inform everything from eating, to finding things and places, to playing video games.

Amsterdam-based company Layar, is reported to have released an augmented reality browser called Android.

Layar lets one search for things on Google but delivers the results based on your location, which it determines from the GPS readout. So you can search for, say, a bike shop or a pet.

The main purpose is to create a sort of serendipitous experience that lets you can discover new things about your surroundings, says co-creator of the new feature Maarten Lens-Fitzgerald.

It is reported that Layar is working on a 3-D function, too, that it hopes to release in November enabling ‘virtual objects to be placed on actual locations’.
