Centenary Celebrations of The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar with 'Valley of Legends'
Strengthening old bonds between Hindi film industry and Kashmir with jewels like Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and many more, The Lalit Grand Palace, Srinagar, is organizing special centenary..

THE HINDI film industry has always projected Kashmir as the picturesque emerald set in pearls, amidst snow clad mountains and the romantic Dal Lake. From the beautiful ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, the memorable ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, to Mani Ratnam’s hard hitting Roja, Kashmir and its various facets have been showcased in many Hindi films. However, in recent past, the region went into anonymity, wiped out of public memory, remembered only for brutal acts of violence. ‘The Valley of Legends’, conceptualised by Dr. Jyotsna Suri (CMD, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group) is an initiative to bring back the charm of the valley, to revive some old memories and strengthen its association with the Mumbai Film Industry.

Valley of Legends will reuniteeminent cine personalities including the likes of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Mrs. Sharmila Tagore, Ms. Asha Parekh and many more under one roof of the sprawling Palace. They would also be joined by Ms. Tina Ambani, Ms. Sunanda Tharoor & His Highness Dr. Karan Singh.

In continuation to the celebration of 100 years of The Grand Palace, known as The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar since the year 1998, the Group has mounted this special initiative from September 2nd – 5th to bring back Kashmir’s glory to its people. The legendary valley of Kashmir is longing for people, tourists and the Mumbai film industry to give it the energy and revive the destination.

In tune with its philosophy of ‘developing destinations not just hotels’, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group has taken many initiatives like Polo in the war zone area of Drass, Invitational Golf for friends and Golf Tournament for Caddies in Srinagar, Valley of Legends is another initiative inspired by the same philosophy.

Bharat Hotels Limited, the owning company of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group - Bharat Hotels Limited is a leading hotel company from India, presently offering 17 luxurious hotels, with 8 operational properties and 9 under development in the five-star deluxe segment. Bharat Hotels, known for its spectacular hotels all operated under ‘The Lalit’ brand, presently has operating properties in New Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Srinagar, Udaipur, Khajuraho and now, Bekal, with under construction hotels, scheduled to open between 2011 to 2012 in Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, NOIDA, Dehradoon, Dubai and Koh Samui (Thailand).

The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar - Originally built in 1910 and formerly the palace residence of the Maharajas, this twin storey heritage property with its sprawling lawns has been carefully restored to its formal glory and is today a full facility destination. The Palace is located 15 km from the airport and just minutes away from the city’s key historic attractions. It stands a witness to the turn of 20th century and also a spectator to the events, as they unfolded during the time India was fighting for its Independence. The Palace that had once succumbed to the ravages of time, returned to life when The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group (an enterprise of Bharat Hotels Ltd.) undertook the restoration process and has for the last 13 years been operating it even when conditions have been most difficult - Infact the hotel has not been shut even for a single day.
