Central govt employees can now enjoy air travel on LTC
After a bonanza pay package, central government employees can now enjoy the benefit of travelling by air to any north east state through LTC. It might be a political agenda but will surely increase tourism in these violence trodden states.
All central government employees would be allowed to convert one block of home town LTC into LTC. The facility to the employees will be for two years with effect from (wef) May 2, 2008. It appears that the scheme is only for a temporary period of two years, but facility once introduced is very difficult to be withdrawn.
The decision to allow government employees to travel by air on leave travel concession (LTC) has come at a time when crude prices have hit its record price at US Dollars 126 per barrel, which is slowly making air travel out of the reach for general public.
In the election year government wants to give this facility in the name of boosting tourism in the scenic North Eastern region comprising of ‘seven sisters’ states Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh of North East. This sudden remembrance of North East appears to be a political ambition.
Whatever political mileage would be there the decision is certainly going to attract lot of central government employees as tourist in NE region, which due to violence in most of the states of the region has dwindled. As per an estimate even if one per cent of government official families decide to travel to the region it would result in an inflow of 7000 extra tourists and generation of considerable revenues. And now since the government is taking burden of air travel certainly almost all the 5.5 million people will visit the NE states in next two years.

.i ahve been avail ner 2 times bagdogra & gangtok in 2008 & 2009 ltc30 ( full fare ) in airindia , can i avail the same (ltc30 full fare)in air india to visit jammu & kashmi. imworking in npcil
.Sixth pay commission no doubt a good relief but still to do some thing better in the Pay Band merging of 1900 & 2400 to 2000 and 2800 which can reluxe the employ who are mentaly offset after the mearging of Group-D employ the pay band of 1800.

.It is very very unfair for extending the LTC concession to only Group- A & B from the place of work to NE region by air. What about Group-C employees. Facility is a facility which has to be given to one and all. As per the classification of posts Rs.5400/-, Rs.4800/-, Rs.4600/- and Rs.4200/- in the scale of pay of Rs.9300-34800 in Pay Band-2 mentioned in Group-B and the same Pay Band-2 Rs.4200/- grade pay is given to Group-C which is neitehr reflected in Group-B nor Group-C. As you told that you was working in 5000-8000 grade and that grade comes under Group C. After merging of scales in VIth pay commission does not change your Group. You will be treated as Group C officer only

.i am a central Govt employee in grade B( superintendent of customs and central excise) . i went on LTC leave during dec,08 to shillong/ cherrapunji from chandigarh by air at the lowest airfare scheme upto Guwahati and hired a taxi from guwahati to shillong. but i am being denied the air fare by the department on the ground that the airfare is not admissible to group B category of central govt employees. and also i am being denied the min fare from guwahati to shillong as i did not travel by air/ local bus and dont have ticket of the local bus but of taxi. please guide me if i am entitled to airfare and minimum fare entitled for the travel by taxi?

Goverment orders have been issued wide amendement of Ccs rules for travel by Air to North east for group A N B central govt officers. However no such concession has been given to service personnel. CDAO Pune has confirmed no such orders has been issued for Army personnel. why has such similiar concession not been given to Service personnels or is it in the pipeline or not being considered at all.
.Its a good decision. It needs to be extended to the families also travelling from NE states to meet their Head of the family serving in central Govt due to the obligation of all India transfer.
.what about the eligibility for employees kids below 10years. wether they also will get the full flight charge
.Sir, Will you specify the pay scale of Group B Central Govt employees. Do the PGTs of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan are covered under this rule?
