Home minister Chidambaram has hoped that there would be no flip-flops in the January 5 meeting, held to seek a solution on the Telangana issue. He also sought the cooperation of all political parties to sort out their differences.
DOUBTS OVER statehood to Telegana have been cleared, with the announcement of Home Minister Chidambaram on Thursday, December 31. He particularly hoped, there would be no flip-flops in the January 5 meeting. He also sought the cooperation of all political parties to sort out the differences to carve out Telangana state from Andhra Pradesh.
To face the meeting of Jan, 5 all political parties are trying to convince others with their arguments to protect or separate Andhra Pradesh. Among the political parties who called for meeting on January 5, the TRS is the only one with a clear mind as a party whole. The main parties of the state - Congress and Telugu Desam have been regionally divided and how they argue or assist the union government is to be seen. The Union government appears to be very clear in separating Andhra Pradesh but they want a road map for it; the reason the home ministry has called for a meeting. Chidambaram is also recalling the commitment of the Union government which was already put as an agenda and the president speech also referred it. Besides all of these political parties had gone to polls in April 2009 on the same agenda.
This is a crucial time for Congress and TDP to keep their file and rank in both the areas. The Congress party has a chance now to gain power in both the areas if it is separated. Though there was a similar situation in the 2004 elections, it could not do because of YSR. The Congress party did not think it could get majority in 2009 elections in AP as well as in the nation at that time. Fortunately, it has strength in both the areas and YSR is dead. The Congress Central leadership is very happy that there were not enough leaders within the party to resist them, if a separate statehood of Telangana is taken up. One more advantage is cadre and leaders are separated. If Coastal and Rayalaseema leaders are not satisfied they may float a new party for power. But that is not a problem. The coastal leaders may fight for Hyderabad to be separated from Telangana and Hyderabad MLAs and MIM also will try their best for it. If MIM demands firmly it will be some difficult for Union government. Following is the region-wise tally of political parties from Andhra Pradesh in the state assembly. Assembly: Total seats 294 - Out of this Telangana has 119 seats. These seats are divided as: Congress (50),Telugu Desam Party (38), Telangana Rashtra Samiti (10), Praja Rajyam Party (2), Bharatiya Janata Party (2) ,Communist Party of India(4), Communist Party of India-Marxist (1), Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (7),Lok Satta (1) and Independents (4). Remaining Andhra Pradesh has 123 seats. These are divided as: Congress (74), TDP (36), PRP (13). Rayalaseema has 52 seats. These are divided as: Congress (33), TDP (16), PRP (3).
.whether state is divided or not, congress has dug its grave in both regions, if telangana is formed no matter how hard congress try to credit for that , KCR & Co, will be hero and KCR is smart enough to kick congress out of telangana in next elections,
In Andhra either the congress cadre form their own party , TDP could wipe out congress, PRP could revive. The only way out is to convince KCR & Co, with some package and special previliges for certain time., else end of congress in AP
