The demonstration was the biggest ever of any kinds in Diyun town which mark the beginning of its valuable presence of APCSU’s office in Diyun. The proactive role that APCSU have undertaken is manifested by the diverse developmental works that it is doing including the recent embanking a part of Dihing River in Dumpani Village.
Leading the rally Orunjit Chakma, Organising Secretary, APCSU divulged that the rally is aimed at awakening the people to put up a collective fight against ‘Drug culture’ which is slowing dragging the society into a ditch.
Ms. Maya Devi Chakma, President, Chakma Women welfare Society urged the peaceful mass gathering at Diyun Govt School’s ground to understand the harm that drug abuse does to a family and to a society at large.
Nirmal Kanti Chakma, President, Chakma Development Society, Diyun, Says that APCSU should organise this kind of mass campaigns now and then before the menace of drug addiction gripped the town with mostly youngsters falling into the trap.
The local administration and the general public have appreciated and supported the campaign. Officer In charge of Diyun Police Station Mr. P. Kalita along with his subordinate Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh has also attended the rally along with police constables to maintain peace and order during the rally.
