New Land Use Policy (NLUP) is a Central government-funded scheme of the Mizoram government, which aims at poverty alleviation by way of providing regular occupations and doing away with the “jhum” or shifting cultivation. Various departments are involved in its implementation and they are called "line departments".
Later in the day, final payment of the 1st phase of NLUP under Horticulture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary departments were disbursed. About 288 and 370 numbers of beneficiaries under Horticulture and Animal Husbandry & Vety Departments respectively received their final payment.
Pu Zoram Muana, Secretary, NLUP Apex Board announced in the meeting that the payment to the beneficiaries selected under the 2nd Phase shall be made in December-January and the process of selection of beneficiaries under the 3rd Phase will soon start.
The meeting was attended by Nihar kanti Chakma, Hon’ble Minister of State, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary etc., Nirupam Chakma, Hon’ble MLA, Kali Kumar Tongchangya, Chief Executive Member of CADC, Rinliana SDO (C), Chawngte, Zoram Muana, Secretary, NLUP Apex Board and Lalvenhima, District NLUP Nodal Officer. A host of several officers from the NLUP line departments such as Horticulture, Agriculture, Soil & Water Conservation, Animal Husbandry & Vety, Fishery and Industry were also present.
