India is developing at a very fast speed. With metro in Delhi, Sea bridge in Mumbai connecting Bandra Worli are one of the examples of India's development but there is still more challenges and issues in front of the government that need to be solved
INDIA, EVEN after its 62nd year of independence, is grappling with certain problems that act as impediments to its development. And the new Indian government, that is the Congress which came into power again for a second time, has this huge responsibility on its shoulders to resolve the issues and try to make things better for the people of the nation. The most important issues that need attention are the education system, infrastructure and terrorism.
The first and the foremost issue that needs to be dealt with is the state of education in India. It is still lacking in certain areas, which explains the reason why so many students flock to other nations such as US and UK to do their studies. Education in India has become so commercialised these days that sometimes people who are meritorious and deserving are left behind and those who have money and contacts get ahead and gain admissions in the best institutes. And there may be many children from the marginalised sections of society who are denied access to education because their means don’t allow them. It is very important to introduce educational reforms so that each and every child gets education and the Teach India initiative that was launched by Times of India had been such a great success and motivated so many people to come forward and lend a helping hand to the underprivileged, some more initiatives like this can be taken by the government so that education becomes accessible to many.
Another area that requires reforms is the infrastructure system, the condition of our roads is still worse and during the monsoons it becomes like a nightmare for people. And the problem of electricity and water crisis especially during summers still persists in many areas and there has been no major improvement in this regard. And in the recent reports in the papers, because of the lack of our infrastructural facilities, the commonwealth games that were supposed to be held in India might be on a standstill.
Last but not the least, the problem of terrorism needs to be dealt in a strict manner and a lot of security reforms are needed, our maritime security also needs to be strengthened so that a situation like 26/11 that led to so much of devastation doesn’t happen again. We have had a lot of it and it’s high time that something needs to be done fast, so that people feel reassured and safe in their country.
It is certainly a lot of work and these are tough challenges for the government to overcome but a beginning can be made in this regard which can lead to bigger changes over a period of time. And if the government works, keeping in mind the welfare and betterment of the citizens and the nation, the people will also come forward and co-operate in their own sort of way, so as to lead India on its path towards development and empowerment.
