Challenges in quality research
To draw policy implications (not suggestions) flowing from the objectives and major findings of the research studies is the greatest challenge in the quality of research. Let us enrich ourselves with a variety of experiences without phobias for trying a variety of research methodologies based on primary and secondary data.

India stands backward in research and innovations with just 2.3 percent of the research publications in the world where as China’s contribution is 16.5 percent, told Professor Goel.
To keep our passion for research and writing, let us accept the challenge of no cut and paste job which amounts to plagiarism (intellectual theft) which is punishable by Law.

There is a strong case for substantial funding for conducting high quality research for finding economically viable solution to the emerging challenges. There is a need for policy implication oriented research and not only t - value significance at 95 percent level of significance with many disconnections.

Let the young researchers feel motivated to apply for major and minor research projects as there is no dearth of money with the UGC. The quality of research is directly correlated with the infrastructure, commitment of the researcher and guide to do something worthwhile. We are required to learn to tell the findings in an objective manner.

(Dr. Madan Mohan Goel is Professor of Economics at Kurukshetra University, Haryana)
