Champions League Preview: Mumbai Indians Vs Cape Cobras
Champions League 2011 would witness two teams, Mumbai Indians and Cape Cobras fighting it out at Bangalore later tonight. A win for Mumbai Indians would bring them closer to the semi finals berth, which they are eying.

THE TOP two teams from Group A of the Champions League 2011, Mumbai Indians and Cape Cobras would battle it out later tonight at Bangalore. Mumbai Indians need a win in order to seal a berth in the semi-finals of the competition. Mumbai Indians has been undefeated in the competition, whereas Cape Cobras have a record of 1 loss and a victory against their name.

It would be fair enough to say that Mumbai Indians have been lucky as they have won both their matches, which could have resulted in a loss too. But it is their tailenders who have done wonders with the bat. Lasith Mailnga needs a mention here, as he has played a good hand in Mumbai’s victory with the bat.

Cape Cobras have a very strong team, which would give the Mumbai Indians a run for their money. They have some really good players, whose game is suited to the T20 format. Herschelle Gibbs, JP Duminy, Dale Steyn, Owais Shah, and Charl Langeveldt are players who need to rise to the occasion as they have international experience in their side. They are also one of the best fielding units in the competition, so they are sure to save plenty of runs in the field.

Mumbai Indians has been missing their prime players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Munaf Patel who have been an integral part of the team. But, still they have many players in their ranks, who can turn the game on its hand in both the bowling and the batting department. Their batsmen such as Ambati Rayudu, T Suman, Andrew Symonds, and Kieron Pollard have not been able to make an impressive display with the bat. They need to prove their worth in the team by scoring in today’s match. If players such as Symonds, Pollard get into the act, it could be a very tough day for Cape Cobras.

With both teams aiming to progress in the knock out rounds of the competition, the match is surely going to be a very fascinating one, where both teams would want to out think one another in the field.
