Champions League T20
Champions League T20 final 2014: CSK vs KKR
One simply couldn't have asked for a better finale to the Champions League T20 than what we are about to witness at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore when two long time rivals in Chennai and Kolkata fight it out for the title.

Gambhir and Dhoni are surely not known to be the best of friends, and have contrasting leadership styles which adds a lot more spice to the contest. While Gambhir is aggressive and wears his emotion on his sleeve, MS Dhoni is the calmest being on the field. However, they both have brilliant captaincy records.

However, Kolkata have been delivered a body blow and have to do without their trump card in Sunil Narine who has been taken out of the equation after being reported for his action for a second time. It is indeed worth considering the fact that Sunil Narine has been the key in both their IPL title triumphs and his boots cannot be filled. They still have a decent attack but it no longer wears the sheen of invincibility it used to with Narine in the ranks.

As far as their batting goes, Kolkata would have been delighted to see Kallis score some runs in the Semi-final match. And most of their batsmen have spent time in the middle at some point in the competition. But the form of captain Gautam Gambhir remains a huge concern as he struggled and looked completely out of his depth in Hyderabad where the pitch offered something for the bowlers. Chennai were comprehensive in seeing off Punjab. In fact, they were ruthless. Yes, they had a poor start with the bat yet again but they showed why they are a champion team. Someone or the other puts his hand up and assumes responsibility. Against Punjab it was Bravo.

However, their openers, who were so destructive in this year's IPL, haven't been able to get going at all. Yes, their team is studded with match winners, but they have shown some frailties as well. However, come Final's night and they will be out there playing with confidence. They have been there and done all that before and know what it is like to play on the big stage. No silverware for quite some time means that Chennai will be hungrier than ever. These two teams have given us some thrilling contests in the past and it promises to be another such night where cricket will be the winner. We just hope for the rains to stay away and allow us to get a full game in.
