Rajasthan Royals and Otago Volts clash with one another later tonight in their group A fixtures at Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur. The Royals lie on top of their group, while Otago lie on second place with 12 and 10 points respectively in the ongoing Champions League T20.
Both teams would be eager to stay atop after the completion of the group stages, as they would want to avoid a clash with one of the top contenders of the tournament in the semi-finals, Chennai
Super kings, who have played consistent cricket throughout the tournament so far.
Rajasthan Royals who has won all their matches so far have also looked good with players such as Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny , Shane Watson
, Brad Hodge, Rahane etc in the batting line up. In fact Watson and Binny have also been impressive in the bowling department, taking pressure off their main bowler like Faulkner, who has also looked good. Overall, Royals led by Dravid has been a disciplined and a united lot.
Their opponents for tonight, Otago also comprises of good players such as Brendon McCullum, Rutherford, Ten Doeschate etc who can make life difficult for Rajasthan Royals. This team representing New Zealand has been a surprise as it has also defeated teams such as Perth Scorchers and Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were front runners for the 2013 Champions League T20 title. So, it would not be surprising if they also topple over Royals and take the top spot. They have progressed into the main rounds of the competition from the qualifiers stage.
There is high stake in tonight's fixture as a win here for the Volts would knock the Mumbai Indians out of the competition, even if the 2013 IPl champions win their last group fixture of the 2013 Champions League T20.
