Champions Trophy 2013: India Vs Pakistan
The tickets for the India-Pakistan fixture, scheduled for tomorrow, June 15 at Edgbaston in the ongoing champions trophy were sold out in half an hour after the bookings opened. This alone establishes the magnitude of the interest in the match, which is always said to be one of the biggest in international history.

India might have already qualified for the semis, but Pakistan, who are out of the competition would be eager to go back home defeating arch rivals India. Though, the result of the match is not going to change anything, but a loss for India might dampen their spirits ahead of the knock out stage. Hence, India needs to win the match on all counts and maintain their cent percent winning record in the tournament so far, which has seen them defeat top sides such as South Africa and West Indies with comparative ease.

The Indian team with its imperious form are favourites with effective display by both the Indian bowlers as well as the batsmen. Shikhar Dhawan has been the most effective player with the bat scoring back to back centuries along with his make-shift opening partner, Rohit Sharma, also scoring a back to back half century. Other Indian batsmen have also come to the forefront and scored crucial 30 and 40 runs.

To the contrary, the Pakistan batsmen have embarrassed themselves with the bat in both the matches scoring 170 and 167 runs only in their last two matches. But in Nasir Jamshed and Misbah-ul-Haq, they have two in-form players who have scored decently in their last two outings. Pakistan cannot rely on these players alone, hence other players such as Imran Farhat, Mohammad Hafeez, and Kamran Akmal need to fire, else they might go back home with three embarrassing losses. The Indian bowlers have looked in good shape, especially Ravindra Jadeja who has taken seven wickets in the competition. Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma have also looked good. These Indian bowlers aware of Pakistan batsmen being in bad form might go for the kill straightaway.

As usual, Pakistan has the better bowling line up, but they have not lived up to that expectation in this competition. Still, India needs to be wary of the Pakistan attack and play bowlers such as Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan and Saeed Ajmal with respect. These bowlers on their day are capable of running any batting line up with their bowling skills. India and Pakistan cricket fans would be praying that the match does not get disturbed by rain. With some matches in the tournament already being washed out, no one would want to see an India-Pakistan fixture washed off, as there are chances of rain over the weekend as well.
