Chandigarh based private university to hold conference on "Role of Media in Strengthening Society and Democracy"
Academic conferences on mass communication and journalism are becoming common to discuss professionalism, research and ethics in this knowledge area. A Chandigarh-based private university is organizing a one-day conference to highlight the issues and challenges media is facing in the contemporary world.

A one-day conference on "Role of Media in Strengthening Society and Democracy" is going to be organised at at University Institute of Media Studies, Chandigarh University on April 10. According to the organizers of the event, the objective of the conference is to afford opportunity to the academic faculties, research scholars, practitioners and students of media studies to find, explore and learn new and contemporary research areas to meet global challenges.

Those with interest in media, journalism and mass communication courses have asked to contribute or participate to enhance their knowledge base in the area of media studies.

Various important subthemes, citizen journalism has also been included in the conference which common people also participate to bring forth local issues and news-stories unnoticed by the mainstream media.

Besides the common trends in media practices; issues of fake news, paid news, conflict reporting, social advertising, corporate social responsibility, media for the marginalized, corporate social responsibility, and many other  are going to be discussed in the conference.
