Chandigarh based SMEs want to be focused in election manifestos of parties
Small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector at Chandigarh want political parties contesting from their constituency to add various pending issues concerning them in the upcoming election manifesto.

Chandigarh-based SMEs are facing various problems like conversion of lease hold plot into free hold, implementation of MSME act in toto, waiver of violation fee, among others. The sector has been demanding for years to solve these problems.

City based industrialists claim that they have been demanding solution of the above three basic unresolved issues for last 10 years but no respite has come so far. The sector is far behind in growth causing loss to the state exchequer. Feeling neglected, many SMEs migrated to other states, while others applied for conversion of their plots into hotels, multiplexes, banks etc.

As quoted by Business Standard, Naveen Manglani, Vice-President, Chamber of Chandigarh Industries claims that in most parts of the country, the lease hold industrial plots have been converted into free hold.

"Despite recommendations by the administration and the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Elevation, to do it in the Delhi pattern, the same is pending and is caught in Red Tape somewhere. We want justice by converting our lease hold plots to free hold on the Delhi pattern," said Manglani.

Generations have passed resulting in the unresolvable litigation towards ownership of these plots, causing entrepreneurs to lose their peace, he added.

Veteran Congressman and former Railways minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, who had to quit his post following a Railway bribery case, is the party candidate from Chandigarh. BJP has fielded actress Kirron Kher from the BJP, while AAP has fielded actress Gul Panag from the hot Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Chandigarh industrialists have assured that whoever would listen to their problems and give them place in their manifestos, they would pay their full and whole-hearted support to that particular party.
