Chandrababu Naidu's TDP demands Bharat Ratna for NT Rama Rao
For the first time Telugu Desam party raised its voice seeking 'Bharat Ratna' honour to its founder N T Rama Rao at its 3-day 34th annual convention 'Manahadu' in Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief, N Chandrababu Naidu today urged the center to confer highest civilian award of the country 'Bharat Ratna' to the former chief minister of the united Andhra Pradesh and founder-president of Telugu Desam Party.

On the occasion of legendary actor NTR's 92nd birthday, on the second day, the 'Mahanadu' in a resultion urged the Government of India in this regard. Naidu also sought united efforts to acheive this honour to the party founder.

Stating that Rama Rao had brought revolution in agriculture and paid rich contribution for food security of the country, he said he was responsible for brining all non-Congress parties together to put an end to Congress misrule in the country.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that in the name of NTR, saree and dhothis would be freely distributed to all poor peole in Andhar Pradesh. He said this scheme would provide enough employment for weavers, who are in most depressed conditions.

He also said that NTR's statue in Lord Krishna's role would be set-up at River Godavari during forthcoming Godavari pushkarams. He said NTR's regime remains forever in the history of India as a initiator for 'welfare state' concept in the country.

Prior to Mahanadu's resolution early in the day at NTR Ghat, offering floral tributes to NTR, his son and TDP leader N Harikrishna demanded 'Bharat Ratna' for the late Chief Minister on behalf of the Telugu people. He said that NTR spread self-respect for Telugu people all over the world.

Chandrababu Naidu along with his wife, Bhuvaneshwari and son Lokesh also visited the NTR Ghat and offered floral tributes. NTR's family - Balakrishna, former union minister and BJP leader D Purandeswari, Jr NTR, Kalyan Ram and others visited the NTR Ghat to pay their tributes.
