Infiltration from Nepal poses more serious threat to India's internal security since we share a soft and porous border with it. Most terror outfits have found a safe passage to Nepal and are working freely in the country.

We have a soft and porous border with Nepal. There is no need for any passport or visa or even a licence to work in India. Almost two third of Nepalese population is dependent upon India for their livelihood. Many of them are residing here with the status of duel citizenship. They have obtained ration cards, voter identity cards and other necessary documents. They are taking advantage of the schemes meant purely for our poor and deserving nationals.


With declared anti-Indian sentiments prevailing all over Nepal and their close links with China and Pakistan, we have never asked a single Nepali for his identity. It may have been neglected if they have been here only for a job but their activities prove that they are not always fair.

Recently, news was flashed all over the television that Krishna and Rajkumar fled to Nepal (the two prime suspects in the Aarushi murder case). This is just an example. Indian Maoist movement has its deep roots in Nepal, to an extent that Nepal is claimed to be the mother of Maoist movement. Thousands of Nepalese house servants are in a hunt list of various state police for their alleged crimes. The fake currency that has crippled our economy is en-routed via Nepal to India.


Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has found a safe ground in Nepal and are working more freely in the country than Bangladesh. Most of the criminals find safe passage to Nepal and a safe refuge too. Nepalese border has been a road to heaven for smugglers. They smuggle drugs, weapons and narcotics to India without any hindrances. Half of the in-house crimes are committed by Nepalese in India, especially in north, where most of them are working as security guards and home servants.


With such an alarming position none of the so-called nationalists have rung the bell. Where are they all sleeping? We are targeting Bangladeshis just because of their religious links and ignoring the Nepalese for the same. If infiltration is the problem it should be identified without any discrimination. After all it is the matter of national security. The crime should be dealt with hard hands and without any favour. Criminals do not belong to any religion but we are infected with phobia towards some religious identities. We have to change our mentality. If we fail to do so, we are destined to be doomed.


Strict vigilance on our borders is the need of the hour. No one should be left because of the past history. Present conditions are an indication that we must act fast in the direction. Especially when terror is looking for back door entries and is in search of loopholes we have to be more active in this regard. Nepalese threat is not less dangerous than that of Bangladeshi and Pakistani. Don’t the recent incidents and crime records of various police stations in our country suggest the same? Do our politicians smell a rat?
