Chennai-based World Storytelling Institute to hold storytelling workshop for adults
World Storytelling Institute (WSI) in Chennai is going to organize a seven-session storytelling workshop for adults on coming seven Sundays starting from September 4. All the sessions will be held in the forenoons of ensuing Sundays.

According to the director of WSI and the key resource person of the workshop, Dr Eric Miller, "This workshop is designed especially for parents, teachers, trainers, therapists, coaches, performers, creative writers, professional storytellers, and people interested in becoming any of the foresaid."

Another feature of the workshop is that the stories have been chosen for skill training so that they could be used for effective parenting, teaching, training, coaching, counselling, business communication, and other applications, inform the organizers.

Furthermore, during the workshop, the two main aspects of the storytelling are going to be the discussion on and creation of stories along with the training in improving one's ability to tell stories.

The organizers of the event deem that the skill of storytelling is a form of public speaking that also at times may involve acting while speaking and moving like the characters of the story.

According to the BBC website, children have an innate love of stories since they create magic and a sense of wonder at the world. Stories teach us about life, about ourselves and about others. Storytelling is a unique way for students to develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for other cultures, and can promote a positive attitude to people from different lands, races and religions.
