Chennai to host 'Jungian Psychodrama Workshops' for diverse interest groups
The Indian Institute of Psychodrama in Chennai will be organising Jungian Psychodrama Workshops in Chennai from September 1 to 9 in English language.

The workshops are going to be conducted by the trainer Dr Maurizio Gasseau of Turin in Italy who had done doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University of Rome.

According to the organisers of the workshops, Psychodrama involves acting out in role-playing format situations that are on participants' minds. Furthermore, role playing in psychodrama can be done for the sake of creativity and fun; self, staff, and community exploration; sharing information and feelings; Team building; Therapy and healing and finding solutions.

Also, in Jungian Psychodrama, imaginary and symbolic characters from fairy tales, epics, and popular folk tales can be added to including those seen in dreams can be added. "The experience of Psychodrama could be very useful to storytellers and story writers in a number of ways since psychodrama get one in the habit of speaking dialogue between characters, and dialogue between multiple inner aspects of a single character."

The organisers add that in the workshops, the participants would learn ways to think and 'live mythically' with one foot in the ordinary human world, and one foot in realms beyond.

In fact, role-playing in psychodrama  format is linked to 'Active Imagination' which is actually a part of Jung's 3-step group therapeutic method in which actors could speak to  characters from epics, faiy tales, etc., as well as imaginary characters.

School teachers, educators, activists, performing artists, writers, therapists, script writers, parents, children, counsellors, clinical psychologists, psychologists, children and researchers have been invited to the workshops since psychodrama involves the individual and collective unconscious; female and male aspects of the personality; archetypal images, events, and relationships; fairytales, legends, epics, and myths; metaphors and symbols; integration of various aspects of one's self; and integration of one's self with the universe, inform the organisers.
