Chennai to host one-day workshop on "Employability & Workplace Navigation Skills"
Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, is going to organize one-day workshop on 'Employability & Workplace Navigation Skills' on October 22 at its School of Advanced Sciences (SAS) to enrich the participants with their job-readiness skills and enable them to acquire the essential foundational work place skills and improve the quality of their interaction and team working skills.

The organizers state, "A candidate's education and experience may make him/her eligible to send in an application for a job. However, the employers are often looking for skills that go beyond academic and professional qualifications and experience. A prospective employee looks for employability skills, which are a set of competencies for getting and keeping a job."

The resource persons, who are experts in their chosen fields, will discuss the core skills and traits which are needed in almost every job and allow the incumbents to fit into work environments of institutions and industries across the world, it is informed. 

During the workshop session on employability skills, the topics of communication; positive attitudes; aptitude for learning; interview skills and group discussion will be taken up in a cross-cultural ambience intertwined with extensive application oriented workshop environment.

Furthermore, for developing the workplace navigation skills, the topics of resilience; planning and organizing; critical thinking; team work; and information technology will be taken up.
