Chidambaram asks Delhiites to improve behaviour for CWG
Chidambaram asked the denizens of the national capital to seize the opportunity and improve their ways, if Delhi has to be presented as an international city. The Home minister's call to improve manners is a timely rap on the Delhiites knuckles.
HOME MINISTER P Chidambaram on Tuesday (September 22), said that Delhi residents will have to undergo behavioural change before the Commonwealth Games 2010. He asked the denizens of the national capital to seize the opportunity and improve their ways, if Delhi has to be presented as an international city.

Primarily referring to the slack civic sense of the city, Chidambaram said it is time people should change their behaviour and start acting like the residents of an international city. He said this while inaugurating a police station in the national capital on Tuesday.

The Home minister said that the it is time people started obeying traffic rules, follow traffic instructions and observe civic rules. He lamented that not only private vehicles but even police vehicles were seen jumping traffic lights.

In view of the oncoming games, Chidambaram said people should realise that it is wrong to move in vehicles without registration plates, jumping traffic signals and misuse of pedestrian space. The Home minister's call to improve manners is a timely rap on the Delhiites knuckles, particularly those known for wayward ways on the road and show little regard for the rules.
