Chidambaram's love for English: MPs condemn him for allegedly insulting a senior bureaucrat
Recently in a meeting Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had been accused of allegedly humiliating a bureaucrat for the quality of his spoken English. Union Development Secretary Sudhir Krishna, complained to his minister Kamal Nath that Chidambaram's behaviour was crude

Politicians, cutting across partyline, and especially from Hindi belt have condemned such kind of behavior from a senior Indian Minister.

Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Prabhunath Singh from Bihar said that Chidambaram not only insulted Sudhir Krishan, but he insulted entire Bihar.

“All this is done to disrupt the unity of the country. They are trying to make fun of the people who don't know English. We didn't expect this kind of behavior from such a senior minister of the country, who is also in the race to be next Prime Minister. I think that he should apologise to everyone for this kind behviour. He not only insulted a senior bureaucrat but he also insulted the whole Bihar State.”

BJP's MP Sanjay Paswan said, “This is grossly abusive that an Indian minister had said this. If the senior minister doesn't know Hindi that a very serious issue. We have sympathy with the bureaucrat who was insulted, and we condemned this behavior of Chidambaram.

CPM's MP and Polit Bureau member Vrinda Karat termed the incident as unfortunate.

“ I don't want to comment on this issue, but I must say what has happened is very unfortunate, and this should not have taken place”.
