Chief Minister urges Maoists to accept new rehabilitation policy

“I APPEAL again to my misguided young brothers and sisters who have gone to the Maoist cause, law of the Jungle… request them to the main stream,” Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik said before leaving for Delhi from where he will go with a team of ministers and officials to the U.K. on a week-long visit. The Odisha Home Secretary U.N. Behera, contradicting the charges made by the CPI (Maoist) leader Sabyasachi Panda, through an audio tape, had on May 20 warned to turn to violence, if the government resorts to suppression. 


Steps have been taken for implementing the commitments made during the hostage crisis. Withdrawal of prosecution against 13 persons is under process, the Home Secretary told this Citizen Journalist . The Government is taking all steps to maintain peace and order, and Maoists have continued to indulge in violent activities, even as one more tribal man was killed in Malkangiri district on 19th May, he said. Mr. Behera once again, appealed to Naxalites to stop violence and take advantage of the rehabilitation policy.
