Child becomes ATC Controller, enquiry in matter
A child has been found directing flights and communicating with planes at the busy John F Kennedy Airport.

CHILDREN ARE becoming increasingly ready for the job market, as proved by a child who tried his hand at playing ATC traffic controller at the JFK airport. A child was was found directing flights and communicating with planes at the busy John F Kennedy Airport.

As per the information revealed till now, an air traffic controller had brought his child to work and let him take over his job at the airport on February 17. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating how this happened in the first place and how it was not caught immediately.

The Federal Aviation Administration, in a statement said, "Pending the outcome of our investigation, the employees involved in this incident are not controlling air traffic. This behavior is not acceptable and does not demonstrate the kind of professionalism expected from all FAA employees."

In a recording of this incident, the child directed a flight in proper ATC terms. The child said, "Jet Blue 171, cleared for takeoff." A man was heard telling the plane, "Here's what you get, guys, when the kids are out of school."

The pilot who recieved ths communication laughs on the tape and says, "Wish I could bring my kid to work." He also commended the child for the directions. The child was later heard directing an Air Mexico flight.

As per sources, the second controller on the ATC tower is also facing the music for this incident. The second controller was supposed to be in charge and shouldn't have let this take place.

Dave Pascoe, owner of liveatc.net, a website covering news on air traffic communications, who has posted the recording calls the incident blown out of proportion. He said, "When you listen to any of the recordings, the situation in the tower is very controlled. There is no hint ... that anyone was too busy or anyone was interrupting the planes. The kid cleared two airplanes. It was very controlled and I don't think safety was compromised, nor should anyone be disciplined for this."

Meanwhile the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, has said,"We do not condone this type of behavior in any way. It is not indicative of the highest professional standards that controllers set for themselves and exceed each and every day in the advancement of aviation safety.
