Child rights at stake: Four kids reported missing in Manipur
Four children have been reported missing from a boarding home in Chandel district of Manipur. Though it is not immediately clear whether this is a run-away case or a case of abduction, but the case has once again highlighted the issues of insecurity, especially among children in the violence-hit state.

BARELY A week after the brutal murder of a minor after her abduction by unknown people, four children have been reported missing from a boarding home at Chandel district of Manipur. Earlier suspected culprits in a girl's murder case were lynched by a mob, ahead of police investigations.

According to the Shalom Home boarding authorities, the children went missing at around 5 am from their facility, located at Liwachangning in Chandel district and they had reported the matter to the Chandel police station authorities.

The missing students have been identified as 13-year-old David Monsang, a 7th grade student, son of W Monos Monsang of Japhou Village in Chandel district. The other are 4th grade student LH Holyhring, 12, s/o LH Anghlung of Khubung Kunou, WS Parhing, 13 years old of class V, s/o late WS Kolarhing of Chakpikarong and 12-year-old M Tilminlun whose mother's name is Boicy Haokip of Pallel bazar. He is in class V.

According to various reports, these are all students of Angam Memorial School, which is just some 200 metres away from their boarding. Meanwhile, intensive search operation is being carried out by both boarding authorities as well as the guardians of the missing students. It is not certain for now whether the incident is a run-away case or a case of abduction. Such cases have been rampant in Manipur for the last few years.

Very frequently, it happens in manipur state. What is the response of the government and the social organisations to these events ? The writer may also write some of the government initiatives in this regard. I think it may also be doing something to save the children. Just encourage the government and social organisations to do so. I request the writer to dwell on that too. It is a good write up, however it does not encourage the machineries to do the needful.
