The programme, entitled 'Planet earth our home explore, share and care' was held at the DIET Kishtwar and presided over by Dr Khalid Hussain Malik, district Social Welfare Officer and Dr Sunil Gupta, IPS.
THE NATIONAL Council for Rural and Urban Development Society, in collaboration with National Children Science Congress and the Department of science and technology, organised a district level children science competition in Kishtwar, Doda.
The programme, entitled ‘Planet earth our home explore, share and care’ was held at the DIET Kishtwar and presided over by Dr Khalid Hussain Malik, district Social Welfare Officer and Dr Sunil Gupta, IPS.After the welcome address, Dr Ashiq Hussain, Academic co-coordinator, National Children Science Congress, elaborated the main theme as well the objectives of the core organisation. He stated that the main aim of the NCSC was to inculcate a scientific temperament among the child scientist and to make a platform available to children, where they can exhibit their creativity and innovativeness to solve a societal problem using the method of science.
Over fifty students participated in the programme, which was adjudged by the panel of JA Kichloo, Suresh Kumar Sen, MA Zarger, Principal HSS Warwan and Majid Kichloo, lecturer, DIET Kishtwar. They awarded the first prize to a project by students of Sir Iqball Academy High School in the upper age group. Students from Wisdom Tutorials school and the Government Girls higher secondary school, got the second and third position respectively. Similarly, students from the Furqan Academy received the top position from the lower age group category.Dr Sunil Gupta and Dr Khalid Malik, in their address, encouraged the students for their value able efforts to highlight the local problems and for providing scientific methods as remedial measures for the same. They also appreciated the efforts of NCUARDS to introduce such creative activities among the students.Dr Gupta offered his services to the students for guiding them in various competitive exams, in addition to their own subjects. Dr Malik appealed to the teacher community to inculcate moral values among their teaching.
