AN EARTHQUAKE of strong magnitude has struck in some parts of China, Japan and the coast of the Pacific nation of Papua New Guinea. However, inspite of the high intensity of he quakes no immediate news of injury or tsunami alert has been announced yet. In all the places people are still reeling after the Earthquake struck these countries.
In the coastal region of Papua New Guinea the intensity was of 6.2, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake took place today 46 miles south of the town of Kavieng on the island of New Ireland, and also at a depth of 21 metres. The tsunami alert was not announced. The place lies in the ‘ring of fire,’ a circle where the majority of the quakes of the world takes place.
Apart from that, China too was rocked by an earthquake of a seemingly lower intensity.
The US Geological Survey reported that north-eastern Japan also experienced a strong earthquake in the early hours od today. It was the same region, which suffered so much damage earlier this year. However, this time, the jolts did not come with any injury and no casualties were reported. The magnitude of the quake was however intense with 6.2 and was centred at a depth of 22.1 miles (35.6 kilometres) in the Pacific Ocean, 59 miles (94 kilometres) east of Fukushima prefecture.
No casualties were reported in any of the three places and there was no damage of high order.
