China to touch 1 billion mobile phone users mark
In China number of mobile users are increasing rapidly and according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China will cross the 1 billion mark of mobile phone users by early 2012.
CHINA THE most populous country, will hit the one billion mark of mobile users within an year. Worldwide there are 5.3 billion mobile subscribers - coming to 77 percent of the world population. And in China, where the population is 1.34 billion, the total number of cell phones user has gone beyond 929 million, which is more than 67 per cent of the total population.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) statistics, people in China are relying as their primary method of communication on their mobile phones. In the country, in the first seven months of 2011, mobile phone operators added 70.
83 million new subscribers.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology statistics also indicated that by the end of July the third-generation (3G) mobile phone service subscribers expanded to 87.2 million from 47 million than that of the end of 2010, and the telecommunications industry of China collected $87.6 billion during the January-July period.
After China, in terms of mobile phone users, India, US, Russia and Brazil are among the top five countries. India has about 85 million subscribers, the US has about 32 million subscribers, Russia has about 23 million and Brazil has about 22 million mobile phone subscriber.
