Chinese space station expected to crash land into Earth within weeks
The Chinese space station named Tiangong-1 is expected to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere during the first week of April according to estimates by the US-funded Aerospace Corporation.

This is China's first space station and will come crashing down to Earth within weeks. The scientists have, however, not been able to predict the exact spot where the eight-and-a-half-tonne out-of-control laboratory would hit.

The Chinese had admitted in 2016 that they had lost control over Tiangong-1 and would not be able to control its entry back into the Earth's atmosphere. Tiangong-1 had been launched way back in 2011.

Although most of the module is expected to burn up during its re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, large parts, some as heavy as 100 kg are expected to survive and reach the Earth's surface.

The Aerospace Corporation, in a statement said, "A chance that a small amount of debris would survive the re-entry and hit the Earth, does exist." The statement further said, "If this should happen, any surviving debris would fall within a region that is a few hundred kilometres in size." The warning they have issued is that the space station might be carrying a highly toxic and corrosive fuel called Hydrazine, which is carcinogenic.

Since the exact place of entry of the space station can't be predicted, a rough estimate made by the scientists states that the module will be landing somewhere between 43 degrees North and 43 degrees South latitude, somewhere in Europe.

As of now, the chances of its re-entry are particularly higher in areas around Spain, France, Portugal and Greece, however, the space station could hit the Earth anywhere, as there are a lot of variables involved which constantly keep changing.
