Chiranjeevi getting ready for cabinet berth

Besides Chiranjeevi, senior Congress MPs from Andhra Pradesh Kavuru Sambasiva Rao and Rayapati Sambasiva Rao are also making hectic efforts to join in the cabinet.

FILM STAR and Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi is getting ready to join in the union cabinet after waiting for more than a year. After receiving clear indications from the Congress high command that he would be accommodated in the cabinet reshuffle scheduled to be held later this month, he left for Delhi on Vijaya Dasami day. According to indications he received, the cabinet reshuffle is likely to be performed on October 28th or 30th. He was asked to be available for the party and advised to postpone if he had any plans for foreign trips.

With the merger of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party with 17 MLAs, last year the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh succeeded in meeting the challenge posted by revolted leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who had resigned from the party and formed his own regional out-fit Y S R Congress Party. As a gratitude for coming to the rescue of the Congress government in the state, two of his party leaders were inducted into the state cabinet.

Later, Chiranjeevi was elected to the Rajya Sabha with a promise to induct him into the union cabinet. He is expecting to be minister of state with independent charge. However, this has been delayed abnormally resulting impatience among Chiranjeevi’s supporters.

In the present political scenario prevailed in Andhra Pradesh, where both the principle opposition party Telugu Desam’s chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila are on Pada Yatra targeting to complete 2,000 to 3,000 KMs and more than 100 Assembly segments, Congress is badly needed a mass leader who can influence people. Chiranjeevi is the only leader for Congress, who has some mass image and can impress them.

Besides Chiranjeevi, senior Congress MPs from Andhra Pradesh Kavuru Sambasiva Rao and Rayapati Sambasiva Rao are also making hectic efforts to join in the cabinet. Both of them serving their fifth term in Lok Sabha and openly expressing their discontent for ignoring their seniority for awarding cabinet berths. Political sources are expecting one of them is most likely to get cabinet berth.

From the Telangana region also senior BC leader V Hanumantha Rao is bringing pressure on the party high command for cabinet berth. He met party president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday and pleaded his claim.
