'Choma Eagles' - a football team of school girls from under-privileged and marginalised families of Gurugram
Once again it has been proved that best of sports persons and writers are the products of poverty and passion. However, behind their shine, there is always a scaffolding support for nurturance.

The story of Choma Eagles - a football team of school girls coming from under-privileged and marginalised families of Gurugram - has been making waves at the national level football tournaments by upturning the teams from elite and well-resourced schools with sports facilities including sports academies.

The transformation has been brought by the efforts of Beeswan Meel Foundation (BMF) which strives for bringing up the sporting talent among the children of marginalized groups under the catch phrase 'Making India Play' - the brain child of the ex-student of the Motilal Nehru School of Sports at Beesan Meel (Rai)  in Sonipat of Haryana supported by Col Pradeep Kumar and many other philanthropists and social activists.

Rahul - in his school days has been keen sports person, later worked as a gym as an instructor in Gurugram, who had free noon-hours and thought of a novel idea of coaching girls in football who had been playing in the streets and on a small playground of the government school in the neighbourhood.

Rahul told that there were umpteen obstacles to convert the idea into action such as convincing families, organising girls as a cohesive group, availability of a small playground in an under-resourced government school and poor family background since many parents were the casual workers and daily wage earners in the neighbourhood. With striving and winning the trust of the community, the coaching started  with the team's name as 'Choma Eagles' for its association with the Choma locality of Gurugram wherefrom most girls came.

Now, Rahul is looking for financial support for upgrading sports facilities for Choma Eagles girls of Gurugram and BMF to achieve better results and popularising girls' football in the state. And, people have started responding.

"When winning begins to become a pattern you know champions are in the making. Yet again Choma Eagles the slum girl brigade win Pre-Subroto cup in a row rewriting victory for a consecutive second year. Kudos to Col. & Mrs Choudhary as  patrons and a salute to their philanthropic spirit that these underprivileged girls from the slums of Choma village are able to live their dream," writes Rahul in his post.
