A lot of factors come into the picture when you are out to buy a gift for someone. First you need to decide the budget and then think of what the person would like or appreciate. Thoughtfulness is the key to making people happy.
BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, festivals, every occasion demands a gift for your near and dear ones. Nowadays, people find it difficult to decide on a suitable gift. When you are giving something to a person which can light up that person’s face with a smile, a lot of thought needs to be put in while buying it.
A lot of factors come into the picture when you are out to buy a gift for someone. Of course, you need to decide the budget and stick to it so that you won’t end up creating a hole in your pocket. Instead of buying something that you fancy, keep in mind the tastes of the person for whom you are buying it. You shouldn’t buy something on a whim and present it. For example: gifting a very busy software professional or a business man with a guitar can be odd. They may not get time to even touch the guitar. You can instead choose gifts like a nice tie, laptop bag, formal shirt/pants, formal shoes, leather bag for ladies etc. depending on your budget. It will be useful for them in their day-to-day lives. When you are giving gifts to kids, always keep in mind their age. A jig-saw puzzle may not interest a 3 year old kid. Most of the toys available in the market have age specifications written on the package itself; hence it’s easy for you to pick up a gift according to the age.
When you are giving a gift to aged people, its not always wise to select a walking-stick or such things. There are cases where people gift heavily crafted fancy walking-sticks to their grandparents. But remember, there are some people who do not want to resort to such aids and live their old age with more spirit. You can gift them an album including pictures from their good old days or an idol of the God they worship, a CD of some good old songs etc.
I wouldn’t advice you not to go overboard when it comes to gifting your parents. They are in fact the best things in our lives and make sure to choose the ‘best’ for them. There may be certain things they wanted to possess but might have restrained themselves thinking that money can be used for their children. If you are in a position to afford them, surely that would be the best gift you can ever give them. I am sure no one will run out of ideas while gifting their life partners. You can just pick anything that shows the depth of your love. Of course the depth of your love is not assessed by any material things. However, gifts can just express how much you love him/her. Its not about the cost of the gift, it’s you thoughts behind it which add value to the gift. And the smile which you see on your loved one’s face is indeed priceless!
