Chris Gayle recalled into West Indies squad after year-long absence
Chris Gayle, one of the most brutal batsmen of the current generation, has been recalled into the West Indies squad after his relations suffered with the WICB and coach Gibson, following a radio..

THE WAIT is over for Chris Gayle fans scattered all over the world. He has been finally selected for their ODI series against England, which is scheduled to start on June 16. After his public spat with the West Indies Cricket board, his relations with the board went from bad to worse, and he was overlooked for various tours that West Indies played in.

It has been a long wait for the lanky big hitting left-hander. The last match that the player played in West Indies colours was during the 2011 World Cup quarter finals. For the immediate Pakistan tour of West Indies during April 2011, he was dropped from the West Indies ODI team. He was gutted with this decision. In a radio interview, he was very critical of the WICB and coach, Ottis Gibson, reported ndtv.com. This outburst had put him on the wrong foot.

His absence from international cricket did not mean he was completely out of cricket. Instead, one saw that he was enjoying the game as an independent player, plying his trade in various domestic T20 leagues around the world. He played in the Australian KFC T20 bash, Bangladesh Premier League and also the Indian Premier League. In all the tournaments, he showcased his skills, as he dominated bowlers with his brutal strength scoring runs consistently.

So, there were many experts and fans, who wanted to see him on the cricket field playing for West Indies too. It was ironic, when their best batsman Gayle was in great form, he was not picked and the batsmen who were picked could not deliver the goods on a consistent basis. Gibson also wanted the WICB to look into Gayle's matter and solve the issue. It is pretty evident that the team was missing their best player.

As he has been picked now, he must be eager to show his class in the upcoming series. Looking at the form he is in, the English bowlers might be at the receiving end of things. He might vent out his frustration of being ousted from West Indies cricket team by taking the attack to the opposition.
