Chris Steven, US ambassador to Libya killed in an attack on consulate
Just a day after 9/11 anniversary, US ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other embassy staff were killed at American consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi. Stevens was on a short visit to Benghazi.

REPORTEDLY, THE extremists among the protesters angry over a film deemed offensive to Islam attacked the American consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. The protest so sudden and quick that the Libyan security forces were taken by surprise.

US President Barack Obama calling the attack 'outrageous' vowed to bring to justice those responsible for the act. "We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done," Obama said in a statement.

He added, “Today we mourn for more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act."

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, "As we work to secure our personnel and facilities, we have confirmed that one of our State Department officers was killed. We are heartbroken by this terrible loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and those who have suffered in this attack."

India too has joined other nations in condemning the attack on the US consulate in Libya and has ordered beefing up of security at US missions in the country located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad.
